Study Medicine in Lithuania

The most southerly of the Baltic counties, an EU member and member of the Eurozone, Lithuania is seen as one of the most innovative counties in Europe. Huge investment in technology coupled with a low rate of tax means Lithuanians are capitalising on the opportunities open to them. Studying in Lithuanian means you can do the same. With such talent, dedication and infrastructure (which including one of the fastest internet speeds in the world) it is no wonder companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young and Societe Generale have Lithuanian operations. Lithuanian cities are also easy to reach with four international airport serving the larger cities. This has really put Lithuania on the map as a destination for tourism, business and education.

Lithuania has many other claims to fame. Officially, Lithuania is the geographic centre point of Europe and away from the cities has some amazing scenery including part of the Curonian Spit which itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and forms a narrow land link to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Given then the strategic importance Lithuania has given to developing its knowledge economy the universities are rapidly advancing. The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences is arguably one of the most innovative higher education institutions in Europe being the only institution in non-English speaking Europe to teach Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine in the same institution.

There is also so much to do when away from the classroom. The cities of Vilnius and Kaunas are blessed with beautiful architecture boasting “old towns” with vibrant night-life, great cafes and amazing restaurants. Further afield there is a lot to see in Lithuania and beyond. If you like the great outdoors then the south of the county has some stunning scenery and after a day out you could relax with a sauna and swim at Druskininkai Aquapark. Direct and passport free access to the other Baltic states and in to Eastern Poland as part of the Schengen Zone means you can have the experience of your life during you five or six years studying in Lithuania.
