Covid-19 update from Medical Doorway

The Covid-19 pandemic is unprecedented and the global effect is going to be felt for some time yet. With schools and universities closing all over the world the primary focus is maintaining everyone’s health. That being said, the Covid-19 pandemic is creating new and unique challenges to everyone involved in education. Whilst we are all changing the way we live to help defeat Covid-19, the team at Medical Doorway has been planning ahead to minimise disruption. It is our determination to offer applicants the opportunity to enrol at medical schools in September and we are putting plans in place for them to do so.

In this press release we will summarise the steps we are taking in the weeks and month ahead.

Sacrifices of our existing medical students

Before we move onto our plans, we first want to praise the sacrifices made by many of our existing students. A number of our existing students have decided to volunteer their knowledge and skills by supporting their local health-care services. We are so proud of our current students and we are making sure their contributions so not go unnoticed.

We are open for business

Medical Doorway remains open for business with calls being answered and enquires being dealt with. Our office is open on a daily basis but we do ask if you are planning on visiting us that you contact us in advance. We are also set up for video conferencing and are offering video consultations.

We are putting some additional services in place for Year 13 students who are now outside of the classroom. More detail on this will follow and will be posted here and on our Facebook page.

Plans for entrance exams and applications

Medical Doorway runs over thirty separate entrance exams across the globe. We are currently working with our universities and venues to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum. Existing applicants are being e-mailed on an individual basis about their exams to notify them of any changes. At the moment only a single examination has been re-scheduled but other changes may happen as advice and travel restrictions come into play.

With the uncertainly regarding the issuing of A-level results we have been in communication with colleagues in UK universities as to how they are managing this situation. This is helping us tailor our service to support students and open opportunities for them at our European university partners. We are working on plans to enable as many students to apply and secure an offer for September. These plans include extending application deadlines and offering more examination dates. Stay tuned for more information.

Universities with no entrance exams

A number of our partner universities do not use entrance exams for their selection procedures. The University of Nicosia and Queen Mary University of London (MBBS Malta) offer applicants the opportunity of a video interview. Riga Stradins University base their decision on the basis of your achieved grades, references and motivation statement. Riga also has September and February enrolments. Procedures at these universities are largely unaffected but we advise students to apply early as applications for these programmes are increasing.

Our full, free of charge service

Medical Doorway will be issuing updates to applicants directly as we continue to offer our full, free of charge support. The team and our colleagues in our partner universities are working to ensure that aspiring doctors, dentistry and veterinarians get the opportunity to apply and enrol in September 2020.

Covid-19 will be an obstacle but it is one which will not prevent students securing a place at Europe’s world class medical universities.

Medical Doorway will be here for all students who need our support.

    To whom it may concern,
My name is Nouman Khan, from Hong Kong and I was interested in taking the entrance examinations for the Charles University of Prague. However, I am not certain if the fees are exactly about 330 000 on average for all of its faculties. Also, I am not fully sure if they will still take place with the current situation with the COVID-19 in Hong Kong. It is also pretty close to the 4th of April Deadline so I am really sorry for that.
I am just really confused so need help.
    Regards,
    Nouman Khan
