Medical School Admission – No Entrance Exam

Most medical and dental programmes determine admission on an entrance exam, often sometimes paired with a face to face interview. There are however, a number of highly ranked programmes that don’t use this system and determine admission on an online interview or by assessing your paperwork. Here we summarise the programmes that have no entrance exam:

Gomel State Medical University in Belarus

Gomel is the send largest city in Belarus and is popular with aspiring doctors from all over the world. Currently over eight-hundred International students call Gomel home. The welcoming nature of the Belarusian people eases students into their new environment.

Admission is based on high schools subjects and grades only. This is also one of the most cost effective options in Europe with fees of only $4370 per year.

University of Nicosia in Cyprus

This spectacular programme is situated in the Cypriot capital and is one of the best equiped medical schools in the European Union. With truly world-class accommodation and clinical placement opportunities in the UK and USA, the University of Nicosia is becoming the first choice for a growing number of aspiring doctors.

Admission is based on a video interview with offers conditional on your A-level, IB or High School Diploma results. Offers for A-level candidates are ABB including Biology and one other Science. International Baccalaureate candidates require 32 points overall with 16 at the Higher Level. Biology and one other science at the Higher Level is mandatory.

Queen Mary University of London (Malta)

Yes, you read that right! Queen Mary University of London – a UK programme – have a campus in the idyllic Mediterranean nation of Malta. This is the same programme as taught in London so comes with direct GMC eligibility. This is perfect for those students who are solely focused on gaining a UK degree.

Applications are made outside of UCAS and are 100% free of charge. Following a video interview, applicants currently studying their A-levels will be made a conditional offer of AAB. IB students will be required to gain 37 points overall. At least two sciences on A-levels or at the Higher Level on the IB are required.

Applicants who have already taken the UCAT will be required to score at least 2280. If you haven’t sat the UCAT you can do so during the 2020 sitting.

Riga Stradins University

Located in the capital of Latvia, Riga Stradins University is developing a formidable reputation. With state-of-the-art facilities and a low cost of living, this modern faculty is attracting more applicants year on year. Riga is situated on the Baltic coastline and is conveniently located in the Schengen passport-free area. There are also two enrolments per academic year with September enrolment being popular with gap year students and graduates. The February 2021 enrolment is ideal for 2020 school leavers. Admission is determined on your academic performance at High School and/or University.

A-level candidates should ideally have Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level with a BBB profile. If you only have one science, RSU will still asses your application; maths is mandatory. IB candidates require Biology and Chemistry at the Higher Level with four points in both subjects. Maths can be at the Standard Level.

Pleven Medical University

For students looking for an EU program for less than €8000 per year, the February enrolment at Medical University Pleven is an ideal fit. The most established English language programme in Bulgaria, MU-Pleven has been educating future doctors in English since 1997. We have a huge number of graduates from Pleven working all over the world. Non-UK/EU students can apply to Pleven without the need to sit an entrance exam. Admission is determined on your academic performance. A 70% average across your grades in Biology and Chemistry is required for admission. This would correspond to a B grade in A-levels. IB candidates require Biology and Chemistry at the Higher Level with four points in both subjects.

    I’ve got 3As in chem, bio and math with a UCAT of 2470
    But was rejected from UK unis.
    I looking for a university that is cheap and doesn’t require any entrance exam. If it helps, I’m also a native Italian. Is there any uni I can apply now and get in.
