University of Ostrava 2018 Enrolment

Medical Doorway kicked off the September 2018 enrolment season assisting our very first group of Ostrava medical students. In 2017, the University of Ostrava and Medical Doorway signed an exclusive agreement to enable students to enrol at this THES world ranked university. The university offers aspiring doctors a unique opportunity to take their first step to a career in medicine.

Medical Doorway students opened their bank accounts after enrolling at the university of Ostrava.

Until recently, students on a tight budget had no other option but to enrol in unranked universities in Eastern Europe. The University offers students the chance to study medicine in English for only €8500 per year. This provides students an amazing opportunity to secure a medicine degree whilst not compromising on quality of facilities or education.

The city of Ostrava (third biggest in The Czech Republic) is a vibrant and cosmopolitan destination. A former centre of heavy industry, the city prides itself on turing this modern history into a unique cultural asset. The 2018 Ostrava students got to experience this for themselves as part of the free-of-charge Medical Doorway transition service.

Medical Doorway’s in-country support

The Medical Doorway students braved the Bolt Tower as they began to study medicine in Ostrava.

The 2018 students were admitted to the university following the Medical Doorway entrance exams held in London during April and July. During the orientation week, students moved into the Kampus Palace accommodation. This is a high specification residence that contains a gym, laundrette and four restaurants. On Thursday 6th September the students completed all their enrolment activities at the medical faculty. The medical faculty is set in a woodland park a direct tram ride away from the university accommodation.

Following the enrolment, Ben Ambrose (Managing Director of Medical Doorway) was on hand to ensure all students were inducted to the city. Students applied for their student travel permits at the DPO office and opened bank accounts at Ceska Sporitelna. After a short lunch break the students were treated to a tour of the Bolt Tower. The highest point in Ostrava, and part at the Vitkovice complex, the newly enrolled medical students got to see all of the city and the surrounding area. The students are now ready for their first Biophysics classes early on Monday 10th September.
