Visit to Pavel Josef Safarik University in Kosice, Slovakia

The Medical Doorway team recently visited our latest university partner in beautiful Kosice, Slovakia. Pavel Josef Safarik University is blessed with state-of-the-art facilities and enjoys a proven graduate employment track record in the UK. During the visit we were able to meet with Dean Professor Peter Jarčuška to discuss the priorities for today’s international medical and dental students. We also enjoyed a tour of the impressive facilities, led by Ms Zuzana Zanicka from the Dean’s Office. During this tour we experienced, first-hand, the exceptional simulation centre at the faculty. This resource is found only at the best medical faculties in Europe and gives you the opportunity to refine your skills before heading into the clinical placements. Following this we toured the laboratories, where all students learn the science underpinning medical and dental practice.

Pavel Josef Safarik University offers programmes in both medicine and dentistry in their self-contained faculty building. It is also one of the most competitively priced universities in the EU. The medicine programme is currently only €10,500 a year with dentistry priced at €11,000 per year. Admission is based on an entrance exam in Biology and Chemistry. Medical Doorway is running exclusive exams for this university on 8th July and a clearing exam on 25th August. Both exams will be taking place at Birkbeck University of London in the heart of London.

Kosice is Slovakia’s second largest city. As such, it is blessed with a vast array of services for students. There are multiple restaurants catering to every palate imaginable with bars and café’s adding to the buzz off the city centre. The public transport system is highly efficient and great value for money. The medical faculty is a mere three tram stops from the city centre, taking around 5-10 mins. Kosice is also serviced by its own airport with daily flights from London and direct connections to Liverpool and Dublin. The airport is a short twenty-minute bus ride from the city centre.
