Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in New York was founded in 1881. Its partnership with Western Atlantic University School of Medicine connects biomedical-science study in Albany with medical education in the Bahamas and clinical training in the United States.
Students begin in Albany, New York State, before moving to the Western Atlantic University School of Medicine campus in the Bahamas. The final clinical stage takes place at US partner hospitals. The programme therefore spans three study settings, rather than keeping students on a single American campus throughout.
The ACPHS New York & WAUSM partnership combines biomedical science with medical education, leading to an ACPHS bachelor’s degree and a WAUSM MD. The school-leaver pathway connects these stages within one programme; medicine and graduate-entry medicine routes are available for applicants with different academic backgrounds.
School-leaver applicants can enter the combined pathway with A-levels, the IB, CBSE or equivalent qualifications. Medical Doorway assesses the applicant’s background and supports the application without a service fee. USMLE and residency-application preparation are incorporated into the programme for students pursuing the US clinical route.
