Medical University Pleven – 2018 Graduation

Friday 30th March 2018 was an emotional day for the Medical Doorway team and our students at Medical University Pleven in Bulgaria. Back in 2012, Ben Ambrose (CEO of Medical Doorway) was in Pleven to help our students enrol. Six years later Ben was back in Pleven to celebrate their graduation.

The ceremony was chaired by Professor Angelina Stoyanova (Head of the International Student Centre). Speeches of congratulations were given by MU-Pleven Rector Professor Slavcho Tomov and Dean Professor Asparuh Asparuhov. All students took the Hippocratic Oath which was led by Professor Dobromir Dimitrov.

Medical Doorway student Dr Sarah Sonde delivered the keynote student speech. As Sarah graduated top of the class, it is a traditional that she deliver this speech.

During her speech Sarah thanked the leadership, teachers and administrators of Pleven Medical University for their support and commitment. Sarah also ensured that the contributions of friends and family were recognised. A round of applause for traveling family and friends was observed by all. This year ten students graduated with honours and five of these were Medical Doorway students. One of these was Dr Mohamed Swamad who also won awards for his aptitude in Bulgarian language and academic excellence during his studies. Dr Swamad will be continuing his studies to postgraduate level, specialising in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

The Medical Doorway team have assisted over five hundred students secure offers at Medical University Pleven over the past six years. This will mean we will be busy supporting students and visiting for graduation for years to come.
