A medical summer school can help you explore what studying medicine involves and develop practical skills before applying to university.
Given the limited opportunities for practical experience, the residential Medical Summer School at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic provides an excellent opportunity to enhance your profile. Participating in this programme could give you a significant edge over other applicants.
The two sessions run from 7–12 July and 18–23 August 2025. Each has 16 places, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Summer School Schedule
Monday – Medical school orientation and anatomy teaching
Tuesday – Physiology laboratory experience and experiments
Wednesday – Emergency medicine practicals in the “SIMU” centre
Thursday – Suturing workshop followed by plaster cast practicals
Friday – Mendelianum museum visit in DNA sampling and extraction practicals
Saturday – Day trip to see historic Prague
What does it cost?
This interesting experience costs only 25,000CZK est. $1100/€1000/£850/AED4000 and includes:
- Accommodation in the university’s dormitories from Sunday to Sunday
- Entry tickets to Mendelianium
- Your own medical coat
- Entry to the University Campus and Simulation centre
- Practical lectures taught by professionals
- The experience of a week in a university student’s life.
There are 16 places per session, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
