Czech Republic Pre-Departure Briefing 2017

Once again, Medical Doorway held a pre-departure briefing for all of our Czech Republic bound students. Due to the record enrolment, over one hundred and eighty students and guests descended on Birkbeck University of London for a packed day of presentations. Students heading to Charles University First Faculty, Charles University Second Faculty, Masaryk University, UVPS, Palacky University and Charles University in Hradec Kralove and their families had the opportunity to attend this FREE of charge event.

The day started with presentations from Ben Ambrose about the universities and also the process of becoming an international student. Strategies to cope with the academic and culture shock commonly experienced by students were discussed. Ben Ambrose also offered advice on how to make a successful start to learning Czech.

Gabriella Šilhánová (Executive Director) Lucie Pátková (PR Manager) of Foreigners.cz flew to the UK to meet students and parents. They introduced students to the Czech Republic, even giving some early pointers in the Czech language.

The most popular talk was delivered by Medical Doorway student Taranpreet Bhoday. Taranpreet has just successfully competed her first year Charles University First Faculty of Medicine. In her inspirational talk, Taranpreet advised students on how to be successful when studying medicine in Czech Republic.

One of the big opportunities was the chance for students and parents to network with each other. Overall, this day helped students get ready for their futures and ensured they were all fully informed.
