Since 1977 St. George’s University in Grenada has been a global force in educating successful medical professionals. Students and academics from over one-hundred and forty countries have passed through the doors of this beautiful Caribbean campus. The medicine programme is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), which is recognized by the GMC in the UK. In addition, the programme is recognised across the USA including by the Medical Board of California.

St. George’s University has a range of pathways depending on the entry point of the student. Graduates can enter their four-year MD programmes and students with UK A-levels or the IB can apply for the five-year programme. Students from other education systems can access the six or seven year MD programmes. On the first two years of the four-year MD program there is a focus on the basic sciences; taught at the Grenada campus. These two years include a blend of lectures, laboratory practicals, small group discussion and problem-based learning workshops. The first year of basic science education can also be taken at Northumbria University making, a popular option for UK students.

The final two years are dedicated to clinical education. The clinical training takes place at the university’s clinical centers and partner hospitals in the USA, UK and Canada. The exceptional clinical training gives students an opportunity to practice in some of the best hospitals in the world. Rotations include, sub-internships, primary care and electives.
