Study in Bulgaria

As one of the world’s oldest countries and a crossroads between Europe and Asia, Bulgaria has a unique culture and history which many counties can only dream of. Occupied for periods by the Byzantines, Thracians, Romans and Ottomans, Bulgaria has been coveted for its rich natural resources and astounding beauty by many over the centuries. Birthplace of the Cyrillic alphabet and situated in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria is blessed with mountains, white sandy beaches and exquisite cities, towns and villages. This environment makes Bulgaria arguably one of the most beautiful countries in the world with opportunities to enjoy life to the full whatever the season.

Bulgaria is also one of the most tolerant counties you will find. The history of occupation by various empires has meant Bulgaria has developed its own distinctive culture with traditional food and music adding to the kindness and warmth that Bulgarians show to visitors. While the majority of the population would identify themselves as Orthodox Christians the historical connections with Turkey mean that just over ten percent of the population consider themselves Muslims.

Even before EU membership (the county joined the EU in 2007), Bulgaria was a popular study destination. Students from across Eastern Europe, Russia and South Asia came to Bulgaria to benefit from a country where education is taken very seriously. Medicine has been taught in English in Bulgaria since 1997 with Medical University Pleven starting the first exclusively taught English language medicine programme in the country. Still to this day the university is one of Europe’s most popular university and have graduates working at the cutting edge of medicine across the world. Studying in Bulgaria gives you the opportunity to experience an amazing culture and benefit from a low cost of living and arguably the most competitive tuition fees to be found anywhere in Europe.
