Study in Latvia

Having regained independence from the Soviet Union on 4th May 1990 and joining the EU in 2004, Latvia has rapidly advanced its economy and infrastructure and now offers you some of the best facilities in Medical and Dental education to found anywhere in Europe. A multi-ethnic county with historical and cultural ties to Russia, Germany, Poland and Scandinavia, Latvia is an increasing popular destination for tourism and education.

Latvia has invested heavily in its university sector and teaching in English and providing access to state-of-the-art facilities has been a priority to attract and cater to the increasing number of international student choosing Latvia for their personal and professional development. Riga Stradins University is no exception and the facilities on offer at the main campus and the clinical skills centre easily compete with Western European or North American University standards.

Away from the classroom there are lots of opportunities that you should make the most of in your time in the Baltics. As a member of the Schengen Area and the Euro you can easily travel to the other Baltic counties of Estonia to the North or Lithuania to the south. For those more adventurous it is possible to plan a trip to Russia (Moscow or St. Petersburg) or even Belarus, although this would take more planning.

There is however lots to do in Latvia with Ice Hockey and Basketball being the most popular sporting pastimes. Spend some time exploring the bars, cafes, restaurants and shops of Riga old town or in the warmer months follow the locals and head to Jurmala Beach to enjoy the sun, sea and sand.

While not commonly well knows as some other destinations, Lativa is becoming a major destination for intentional students pursuing health related studies and with exceptional education, research and infrastructure (along with South Korea and Hong Kong Latvia boats one of the fastest internet speeds in the world) it is not hard to see why Latvia is becoming the first choice for students from across Europe and further afield.
