Professor Eitan Brizman visited Newcastle-Under-Lyme School

In the run up to our Open Day at the Royal Society of Medicine we were delighted to have Professor Eitan Brizman joining us. Professor Brizman is the Vice-Dean of international affairs at Charles University First Faculty of Medicine in Prague. Over the course of the week meetings have been arranged with UK universities, hospitals and political representatives. This is part of a strategy to enhance collaboration between the UK and Czech Republic. However, our first activity was student focused and we were excited to be back presenting at Newcastle-Under-Lyme school. NULS can trace its history back to 1604 and it is currently one of the highest achieving co-educational day schools in the UK. A highly developed MedSoc at the school assists students on their journey to medical school and this visit was highly anticipated.

During the visit Ben Ambrose introduced Professor Brizman and briefly talked about the broader opportunities to study medicine outside of the UK. Professor Brizman then talked to the students about his journey as a Brit who chose to study in Prague. He then talked about his journey to becoming a consultant Maxillofacial surgeon at London’s Royal Free hospital.
