Ben Ambrose (CEO) of Medical Doorway was recently interviewed by The Professionals in International Education news team. Their story “Offshore Medical Training” considered the surge in interest of studying at medical schools in Europe.
In the article, Ben was questioned about the rationale for students choosing to study medicine outside of their home country. The lack of places available in the UK, the political situation in Hong Kong and access to US federal funding all came up in the interview.
In addition, colleagues of Medical Doorway contributed to the article. Head of International Admissions at the University of Nicosia (Valia Tsiakala) spoke about the educational and clinical opportunities available. Mr Eitan Brizman of Charles University First Faculty of Medicine pointed out the challenges and also talked about his roles as an NHS surgeon and a member of the Charles University faculty.
Studying Medicine abroad has never been so popular. The article identified this and the risk posed by fee-charging student recruitment agencies.
The article adds to our varied approach to outreach. Medical Doorway is determined that students and other education stakeholders are fully aware of the realities of applying and studying medicine in Europe.
