Medical Doorway held the unique title of being the only representative present at the 2019 Medical University Pleven enrolment. We were supporting another cohort of medical students enrolling at this leading Bulgarian university. Students from the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Netherlands, Canada, Egypt, Cape Verde and Brazil joined over five-hundred existing Medical Doorway students in Pleven.
After collecting students and their guests from Sofia airport, everyone settled into their pre-arranged accommodation. Enrolment activities started on Monday 4th February with an introduction from the International Student Centre team. In the evening, Medical Doorway hosted our annual welcome reception. Guests of honour included representatives from the university senior management. Managing Director, Ben Ambrose, gave a welcome speech, recognising the hard work of all students and members of the staff involved in the enrolment process. Also present were our year-six students who will be graduating on 12th April 2019. This included the current president of Pleven AIMS.
The welcome event enabled students to sample traditional Bulgarian food and learn more about the local culture. A traditional dance troupe performed for the students and their travelling guests. Student also were able to join in and relax before the hard work starts.
