Medical Doorway and the University of Nicosia Medical School in Cyprus are delighted to announce the launch of a new pathway for graduates. Previously, graduates could enrol on a four-year programme awarded by St. George’s University in London. This programme had it’s last enrolment in 2021 but graduates still have a distinctive graduate-entry medicine pathway at UNIC. The university have worked closely with the Cypriot regulatory agency to bring this to students for the 2022 enrolment.
30% tuition fee discount scholarships are available
Announced this week, graduates can enrol on either a four- or five-year graduate entry medicine programme. Bachelor’s degree graduates with a 2:2 or above can apply for a five-year pathway. Holders of Biomedical degrees are eligible for a four-year programme. As such, this now makes UNIC the only university in the EU to offer an international student focused four-year graduate-entry programme taught in English.
Applicants should also hold a GAMSAT of 55 (with a minimum of 50 in each section). An MCAT with an overall score of 498 is also acceptable. Candidates for 2022, who have yet to take either of these exams can sit the next MCAT on 5th August. Furthermore, EU applicants are also eligible for the late August sitting.
Tuition fees are currently €24,000 a year with 2022 enrolees receiving an automatic scholarship of 20% reducing the fees to €19,200. Aspiring students can then apply for an additional 10% reducing the cost to €16,800 a year.
This is a truly exciting development and offers graduates the opportunity to enrol at a world-class medical school. The facilities at the University of Nicosia are top-class with amazing student accommodation and academic buildings. We have seen students being misled into believing that programmes in other parts of the world are accredited graduate-entry medicine degrees. Unfortunately, many have then discovered this wasn’t the case and they were merely skipping years of a six-year pathway. This has had a detrimental impact on their education and potential eligibility for GMC registration. The graduate-entry MD programme at the University of Nicosia is directly accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. Because of this rigorous accreditation the graduate-entry degree at UNIC has a specific title of GEMD.
