On Thursday 19th May Medical Doorway continued our UK school outreach at Dulwich College in London. Dulwich College is a world-famous school at which Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton studied. The boat he used to land in Antarctica (the James Caird) is proudly displayed in the science block of the sprawling campus. Ben Ambrose had the chance to meet the college counselling team and led a presentation to the Year 12 students. Given the year-on-year increase in applications to UK medical schools, the students were advised to make their back-up plan to UCAS as early as possible.
During the presentation, Ben introduced the students to a range of universities. This included QMUL (Malta), Nicosia (Cyprus), SGU (Grenada), Charles First Faculty and Masaryk University (Czech Republic). The universities, their selection systems and curricula were all compared. This was so students were aware of the great diversity of programmers open to them.
Dulwich School is an international school, with campuses in London, China, South Korea and Singapore. We have already assisted students from Dulwich College secure seats at world-ranked medical programmes in Europe.
We are continuing to provide in-person outreach to schools across the UK and will be at UWC Atlantic College for our next visit.
