The biggest question asked by aspiring international medical students relates to the profile of their degree in the UK. The best way to determine this is to look at the GMC registration track record of a programme. Thankfully, all this data is freely available by contacting the GMC. Anyone can make a Freedom of Information request to the GMC and find out how many graduates from a particular university(s) have successfully registered in the UK.
On 20th December 2022 we made such a request directly to the GMC. The reply demonstrated the high level of success graduates from the Czech Republic and Slovakia enjoy in the UK.
The GMC reported, as of 9th January 2023, there were 2035 successfully registered doctors from our Czech and Slovak university partners. These are broken down as follows:
Charles University (all faculties) = 1280
Palacky University = 283
Masaryk University = 273
Pavel Josef Safarik University = 196
Ostrava University = 3
Adopting an evidenced based approach to choosing a university is something we advise to all students. As this GMC data demonstrates, our Czech and Slovak university partners have a proven and established track record in the UK. Furthermore, this may go some way to explain why we have seen a big increase in Czech and Slovak applications for the September 2023 enrolment.
